As You Like It by Creation

“We are not only taking our audiences to the beautiful surroundings of Wycliffe Hall’s stunning family-friendly college gardens near University Parks, but on tour as well to make sure we reach new audiences in Oxfordshire,” Creation’s Helen Eastman tells us.

So why these two plays? “As You Like It is such a gorgeous, romantic and funny play about lust, love, sisterhood, and brotherhood with lots of singing and dancing, and it’s being directed by the award-winning Lucy Pitman Wallace.

‘bring a picnic, crack open the Pimms, enjoy the bar, the live music and sit down with us under the stars’

“”So we have set it in the 70s ‘summer of love’, so it’s fast, fun and genuinely funny,” Helen explains. “Plus it has some of the best Shakespeare lines – ‘if all the world’s a stage…’ and the usual confusion of all the wrong people falling in love with each other, but everything turning out alright in the end.

“So bring a picnic, crack open the Pimms, enjoy the bar, the live music and sit down with us under the stars at Wycliffe Hall.”

‘Treasure island comes complete with sea shanties, swashbuckling, sword fighting, parrots and water pistols’

As for Treasure Island, it’s directed by Gari Jones who brought us the brilliant A Christmas Carol at The North Wall in December, and the Robert Louis Stevenson tale is suitable for all ages, from tinies to teens, with lots of sea shanties, swashbuckling, cannonballs, sword fighting, parrots and water pistols to keep the younger generation amused.

Treasure Island will make a great afternoon and evening out because it’s the perfect summer show full of pirates and mayhem. And while Shakespeare is for everyone, this is such a strong family show, and we wanted to give our audiences more choice, especially families.”

As for the tour, both shows are also visiting Heath Farm in Chipping Norton and The Earth Trust in Little Wittenham. “We want to spread a bit of Creation magic a bit further afield, because Creation is synonomous with summer in Oxford.

Creation’s As You Like It

“We have been doing it for 30 years now and it’s not summer until you’ve been to a Creation show, that’s when summer starts. So we are proud and excited to get going,” Helen concludes.
