TV and radio presenter Kirsty Young and writer, presenter and professional poker player Victoria Coren Mitchell, will be joining famous actors Toby Jones, Shaun Evans and Sally Phillips at The Macmillan Cancer Support “Follow-the-Stars” Christmas Carol Concert at Christ Church Cathedral on Friday December 9.
For those who haven’t been, the star-studded evening with celebrity readings will be interspersed with spine-tingling music performed by Oxford’s world-class vocal ensemble, the Oxford Bach Soloists, conducted by the award-winning Tom Hammond-Davies.
John Rutter, the nation’s favourite choral composer, composed a carol especially for Cancer Support Macmillan’s 25th anniversary which will be played again this year and the candlelit Cathedral creates a magical Christmas atmosphere.
“By joining us and being part of this glorious evening, you will help fundraise and support people living with cancer and their families to receive the physical, financial and emotional support they need,” Macmillan’s Melanie Humphreys says.
“Every year the team behind Follow the Stars manage to pull out all the stops and make it bigger and better than the previous year.
“There’s no other event we can think of that does so well at getting people in the festive spirit while raising much-needed funds to help Macmillan do whatever it takes for people with cancer.
“Throw in the wondrous setting of Christ Church Cathedral and the spectacular support of some of our country’s finest actors, musicians and artists and you have the recipe for an unmissable event.”
“So we urge you to come out in support of our cause by attending this stellar Christmas event.”
