New York pizza is being served in Oxford’s Westgate Centre from today as Slice & Dice opens its first ever outlet in The Social food hall!
The brainchild of Mike Pearson, who runs Benito’s (the Mexican offering next door) and Amit Joshi, the pair fell in love with pizza by the slice on a recent trip to Vegas and decided to bring the concept back to Oxford.
“Nowhere else in Oxford is doing pizza by the slice, or the 20″ pizzas you can also buy here at Slice & Dice, but in Italy and the US you can get pizza by the slice everywhere,” Mike explains.

“Because pizza slices offer such instant gratification and are such a portable food, plus the price point of £4.50 a slice is so accessible, and everyone loves pizza, so we think Oxford is ready!” he adds.
‘the westgate is a great place to open a new food business and Oxford gets to try Slice & Dice first which we are really excited about’
“So while we thought about this long and hard, we really think we can make Slice & Dice work. We want to be ahead of the game.”

And what makes Slice & Dice so different? “We’ve done a lot of research,” Mike adds laughing and rubbing his belly, “and wanted to ensure we got the New York pizza dough right, so we use stronger flour to make sure the dough is portable. Basically it’s street pizza and the base needs to be right so that you can walk around and eat it or fold it like the New Yorkers do.
“All our pizzas are freshly made here as well,” Mike says pointing behind him. “You can see the orders going in and the freshly made pizzas coming out of our pizza oven. And we work closely with Too Good To Go so there is no food waste,” he adds proudly.

With eight pizzas on offer, four by the slice and four as whole ‘pies’, Mike and Amit are raring to go and delighted with their spot in The Social food hall. “It’s a great place to open a new food business and Oxford gets to try Slice & Dice first which we are really excited about,” Mike points out.
“And we know from Benito’s what a great mix of loyal customers we get; from tourists and locals to students so we can’t wait to welcome them to Slice & Dice. https://sliceanddice.uk
