How to begin describing the raucous, electro brass blending, big band, carnival spirit, club rhythms, and new jazz sound that make up the eponymous French band FÜLÜ?

Perhaps with the fact that they’ve graced the stages of Glastonbury and Boomtown as well as international festivals, have just released their first album, and are hugely in demand. Or maybe that they wear carved wooden animal heads on stage and take on their creatures personas?

‘now and again something comes across our desks that we can’t resist, something irresistible, like FÜLÜ.’

Or, more importantly, that the Toulouse troupe are coming to Tap Social’s Tap Room in Botley for one night only on May 24 thanks to OCM, and aim to bring the house down.

Throw in a DJ afterwards until midnight and an open bar, and you’re in for a night to remember! And while there will be some seating, OCM hopes everyone will be up and dancing.

“It’s going to be a proper night out because FÜLÜ are irresistible,” OCM’s Victoria Larkin says.

“They’re a really interesting French street band making some really great music with a theatrical slant, a fantastic aesthetic and are quite new to the scene, so we are really excited about them coming to perform in Oxford,” she adds.

Victoria adds that FÜLÜ, who hail from Toulouse, play a cross genre of music incorporating jazz, dance, techno, brass and electro with a poetic, lyrical quality mixed with raucous carnival.

“They are so great live and there is a really special feel to their shows, like a party, and they’re just the most amazing performers with a really broad appeal,” Victoria adds.

OCM is responsible for bringing all sorts of different music and experiences to Oxford, from intimate gigs in bookshops, to more high octane performances, like FÜLÜ, which is fully suited to the 200 ticketed venue Tap Social Taproom.

Victoria explains: “We want to supply a really different texture of music for people to experience in Oxford and while we usually focus on British artists, now and again something comes across our desks that we can’t resist, something irresistible, which fits the bill of bringing a unique programme of music to the city that you wouldn’t ordinarily see. And that’s what happened with FÜLÜ.”
