New bar WanderBar is opening at Banbury’s Lock29 today at 12 noon, bringing a weekend of live music, drinks and a relaxed summer atmosphere for the whole community, kicking things off with a celebration designed to bring people together and brighten your day.
The opening weekend will feature a line-up of live music including sets from Jack Hopkinson and Frazer Lepford, alongside beers, cider, cocktails and signature sodas.
The event is open to all, with organisers encouraging local residents, families and visitors to come down, enjoy the atmosphere down by the canal and be part of the next chapter for Lock29. “It’s a big moment for us,” the team explain.
The WanderBar team, who run three Wanderbar pubs and bars across Oxfordshire and Warwickshire, say the launch is about more than just opening a new venue, it’s about adding to the community spirit that Lock29 has become known for.
So why Banbury? “Lock29 already has a strong community feel and a great mix of independent operators, so it was the perfect place to bring something premium but still relaxed and accessible for everyone,” they add.
“We’re about creating high-quality, welcoming bar experiences in places that deserve something a bit more considered,” they said.
At Lock29, the concept will centre around an extensive drinks’ menu together with a programme of live events throughout the year. Expect DJs, theme nights, Spritz evenings, Tequila tastings and more! This weekend is offering visitors a first taste of what’s to come.
“We want people to feel like they’ve found their go-to spot, somewhere that’s effortlessly good,” the WanderBar team added. “Great drinks, a warm atmosphere and consistently high standards but without any pretension. It should feel easy, social and enjoyable.”
“”Lock29 has become a hub for independent food, retail and events in Banbury and continues to evolve with new concepts and experiences designed to encourage people to spend more time in the town centre.
The arrival of WanderBar marks another step in that journey, adding a new social space that complements the existing mix while giving visitors a reason to return time and time again.
