“We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join forces with our good friends at Tap Social and open a new bakery” says Missing Bean founder, Ori Halup

Yes the cat is out of the bag as news that Tap Social and Missing Bean are opening a new wholesale bakery PROOF in Tap Social’s former brewery in Kennington.


The collaborative wholesale bakery, coffee shop, and café is set in a light open-plan space where customers can view the working bakery, and enjoy PROOF’s sourdough breads, pastries, tray bakes, doughnuts, and more alongside Missing Bean‘s roasted coffee, Tap Social craft beer, other deli and pantry items, and a shop.


“It’s been loads of fun transforming the brewery into a bakery these past few months, and we’re so happy to have an opportunity to do it with our friends at Missing Bean,” says Tap Social’s co- founder and managing director Amy Taylor.


As with all Tap Social’s work PROOF will offer paid training and employment to prison leavers and people in prison.Tap Social runs the Tap Social Taproom in Botley, The White House pub in Abingdon Road, as well as units in Banbury and one planned for The Covered Market.

Missing Bean has shops in Oxford’s Turl Street and Magdalen Road, Abingdon, Banbury, Botley and Magdalen Road Coffee 


Ori added: “We’ve loved working with independent local bakers over the years, but saw this as a real opportunity to put our own touch on things and be able to offer our café customers a better taste of what we’re about, as well as being a part of Tap’s great social work.”


PROOF officially opens on Saturday, 20 August, and Sunday, 21 August, from 8am to 3pm. After then, its normal hours of operation will be Thursday to Sunday 8am to 3pm. It is a short walk from Sandford Lock, the new Redrow Housing Development, and also hopes to appeal to residents in Kennington, Littlemore, and Sandford on Thames.
