Dancin’ Oxford’s exciting dance line-up for its Summer Festival on July 9 at Westgate’s Leiden Square has been announced.
It includes an incredible four hours of cutting edge dance from some of the UK’s leading dance companies, plus inspiring youth dance performances, a Zumba party, and a moveable feast from B Boys.
The Dancin’ Oxford Summer Festival has been organised with Oxford Festival Of The Arts (https://artsfestivaloxford.org/events/dance-in-the-city-with-dancin-oxford/), to showcase incredible professional dance companies: 2FacedDance‘s dynamic show Power, Company Chameleon’s show Void, Vanhulle Dance Theatre new work Dovetail, Lyndon Da Silva’s The Voyage of Life and B-Boys Fools Paradise.
“ABSOLUTELY EVERYBODY IS WELCOME TO COME ALONG, JOIN IN AND CELEBRATE SUMMER AND DANCING!”
Oxford City Council’s Claire Thompson, who programmes the event said, “We’re thrilled to have such a vibrant mix of local and national dance works here in Oxford, especially for our community. Absolutely everybody is welcome to come along, join in and help celebrate summer and dancing!”
Want to join in the fun? Join a Zumba party led by George Martini and friends, or the B-Boys walking through The Westgate on stilts, performing their colourful work Joy Magnet.
Company Chameleon will perform the work Void – a male and female duet exploring the space created by the pandemic and the emotions and reactions to covid and the lockdowns.
“Come along, and join in the fun. Whatever mood you’re in – you can just watch from the side-lines or join in and dance along with us”
Multi-disciplinary movement artist Lyndon Dasilva will bring his precise physicality to the work he has choreographed, The Voyage of Life.
Vanhulle Dance Theatre will perform the work Dovetail, a highly physical exploration of what happens when two people are thrown together by fate.
They’ll also be four vibrant youth companies performing their inspiring and high energy street and contemporary dance pieces throughout the day, including Messy Jam Dance School, TPD Young Artists, Step 2 Dance and Mini Professionals.
Claire adds: “There really will be something for everyone! It runs from 12 noon to around 5pm. Come along, and join in the fun. Whatever mood you’re in – you can just watch from the side-lines or join in and dance along with us!”
