ROBIN HOOD AND MAID MARION CREDIT GERAINT LEWIS

Exciting news! We’ve teamed up with the Oxford Playhouse to offer one lucky winner a family ticket for four to see this year’s pantomime Robin Hood, plus a goodie bag, at any off-peak performance of their choice!

And Robin Hood himself (Steffan Lloyd-Evans) is here to tell us all about it, for once without his merry bunch of men and women. So what can we expect from this year’s pantomime?

“come along and boo and hiss, laugh and sing. Enjoy two hours of pure escapism and magic. You won’t regret it”

“It’s the event of the year, so it’s really special to be back and its director Steve Marmion‘s last panto here and his best writing yet. So yes, it’s a classic story but it’s really inventive too with gags and innuendoes, singing and dancing, the villain Sheriff of Nottingham, a love story, audience participation – everything you want in a show.

Ad while there are no spoilers allowed, Robin Hood was happy to give us a few hints about what else is in store. “Well Maid Marian is so heroic, maybe more so than the eponymous hero,” he says. “And as for our Dame Friar Tuck, or is it Freya Tuck? Plus custard pies, new music, some fantastic songs and lots of twists.”

“There is just this overwhelming sense of joy in rehearsals, to be part of something again. so it’s really exciting. We just cant wait to get started!”

The Robin Hood fun kicks off on November 27 and runs right through until January 9 and the entire cast cannot wait. “There will be people in the audience who have never been to a pantomime or even a theatre before, families, little ones. Pantomime is a time of getting everyone together, and after the past few years we can’t wait to share in that,” Steffan says.

“Plus pantomime is such an old tradition and so unique, so I can’t wait to get started because we are celebrating the Oxford Playhouse still being alive and kicking.”

“From gags and innuendoes, singing and dancing, to villain Sheriff of Nottingham, a love story, audience participation – everything you want in a show”

“We can have a Christmas together and that adds an extra layer of specialness to everything. There is just this overwhelming sense of joy in rehearsals, to be part of something again so it’s really exciting. We just can’t wait to get started!

“So come along and boo and hiss, laugh and sing. Enjoy two hours of pure escapism and magic. You won’t regret it.”
