Magdalen College School in Oxford has announced it will be fully co-educational by 2030 as part of its 550th anniversary commemorations.
Girls will be welcomed into Year 3 and Year 4 in 2027, and into Year 7 in 2030, the Sixth Form having been co-ed for 15 years.
Head Helen Pike, says: “This is an exciting time for everyone at MCS, as we look ahead to welcoming girls throughout the school. We are proud to offer a happy and inclusive learning environment shaped by inspiring teachers and enriching opportunities; one in which the brightest children can learn and flourish together.

“We look forward to welcoming girls into Year 3 and Year 4 in September 2027, and Year 7 in September 2030 – joining our existing flourishing cohort of Sixth Form girls, who make a strong and positive impact on life at MCS.

“This decision reflects our long-term strategic planning for the school and is a natural next step as we celebrate 15 successful years of co-education in the Sixth Form. It coincides with bursary fundraising targets of £15 million in 2030 – to support financially any child who will thrive here.”
