The Royal Oak in Ramsden came in 84th position with The Double Red Duke in Clanfield making it into the Top 100 at number 87 – a great national accolade, against stiff competition.

The Wild Rabbit in Kingham also won Sustainable Pub Of The Year, judges noting: “Founded by a visionary in sustainability, this pub has put the concept at the very centre of all its operations, creating an offer that has total integrity while seeking to inspire others to follow in its footsteps.”

Estrella’s Top 50 Gastropubs spokesman Ed Bedington, added: “This year’s list represents some of the best food pubs in the country, and we’re delighted to organise this list and awards, and recognise the brilliant work these pubs are doing to deliver outstanding gastronomic experiences week in, week out.

“I’d like to wish all the list the best of luck, and they should all be very proud of the hard work they’ve put in to achieve the recognition of the industry and their peers.”

The Top 50 Gastropubs list was created in 2009 and for the past 17 years has been highlighting the best in the business, with pubs voted for by an academy of voters who pick out their top rated operations to create a go-to-list for consumers of the best places to eat in the world of pubs. The big reveal was announced today at a lavish ceremony at Plaisterers’ Hall, London.
