Directors of Zimasa Vodka

The competition closes on Sunday June 16 at midnight when the winners will be chosen and contacted

But first what is Zimasa Vodka? The family run business was started up by Terence Kavury, Zororo Mubaya and their son Nyasha Kavury back in 2021 in their home town of Didcot, their vodka distilled six times to give it that smooth finish.

So why vodka? “We’ve been talking about starting up our own drinks company for a while and concocting our own spirit, but we thought the gin market was over saturated so decided to concentrate on creating a vodka instead,” Nyasha told us.

“We wanted it to have a really strong identity so went back to our roots in Zimbabwe to make our vodka really unique and decided upon the masau fruit which grows in the Zambezi Valley there. My parents used to pick it off the trees there.

“And after much experimenting we began using dried masau in the distilling process to give it that distinctive flavour. So we are really happy with the product. The name Zimasa is part Zimbabwe and part masau fruit,” Nyasha adds proudly

It was then really important to find the right distillery and came across Dai Wakely at Hensol Castle Distillery in South Wales who really understood what we were after and helped us produce our vision for Zimasa.”

The three Zimasa directors are now keen to get their brand out there and spread the word. “Zimasa is pretty unique really – I don’t know of another African vodka or an Oxfordshire vodka company.”

“But thanks to the masau fruit, (which looks like a plum and has a sweet, sour taste, almost like a cherry), people seem to really love it! It’s good stuff,” Nyasha promises.

Already sold in venues such as The Back Lane in Woodstock, we have THREE BOTTLES TO GIVEAWAY.
